  • Original plans called for the building face to be constructed in stone, but terra-cotta was ultimately chosen as it would allow for more intricate ornamentation.
  • The building's exterior was patterned after early Christian churches.
  • The interior bronze sculptures and massive exterior sculptures were designed by Burt Johnson.
  • In 1974 the City of Los Angeles declared the building Historic Cultural Monument No. 125.
  • The Fine Arts Bulding experienced several name changes under different ownership, but was finally renamed the Fine Arts Building in 1982 by Wayne Ratkovich and Don E. Bowers.
  • The building was originally constructed as a cultural mecca for Los Angeles with most of the levels reserved for artist studios, artisan workshops, and dealer showrooms.
  • The building features an elaborate two-story lobby of moulded terra-cotta and colored tile with a fountain surrounded by sculptured figures and seventeen bronze showcases.
