Fakten

  • The Indian-head carvings at the top of the building are designed after East Coast Iroquois Native Americans, rather than those of Northwest tribes and a popular stop for tourists
  • The first dedicated medical-dental building in the West provided offices for more than 200 doctors and dentists back in 1910
  • A innovative feature in 1910 was a built-in vacuum cleaning system.
  • Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
  • Plans were announced by Unico Properties in December 2003 to covert the Cobb Building into 77 apartments by the spring of 2006.
  • Converted from medical-dental offices to 92 luxury condominiums in 2005-06, with all 462 windows being restored as well as a full seismic upgrade.
  • Namesake was C.H. Cobb, a wealthy lumberman, who was born in the U.S. northeast.
  • One of the nation's first skyscrapers dedicated exclusively to medical and dental offices.
  • Part of a large urban development called the Metropolitian Tract in the early 1900s. The three 11 story towers built were the Cobb, White, and Henry buildings. The Cobb is the last of these still standing.
