Fakten

  • The original Georgian Terrace Hotel was built in 1911 by Architect William L. Stoddart and had 10 stories. After it was closed down in 1981, the building was given new life in 1991, when a new similar designed addition to the building was erected, designed by Smallwood, Reynolds, Stewart, Stewart and Associates. From then on it was named the Georgian Terrace Apartments.
  • The height of the original 1911 hotel was 148 feet (45 meters).
  • When completed in 1911, the Georgian Terrace was Atlanta's northernmost high-rise, and its curved corner was intended to give it a "gateway" effect (along with The Ponce on the other side of the street).
  • The original Georgian Terrace, now the smaller wing of the building (10 stories), was given historic landmark status in 1990.
  • The Georgian Terrace was for years after its opening the most luxurious hotel in Atlanta, serving guests such as President Calvin Coolidge, opera singer Enrico Caruso, and Gone With the Wind's Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh.
