Fakten

  • The convention center is named for the late Boy Scout Executive H. Roe Bartle, who served as Mayor of Kansas City from 1955-1963.
  • A life-size bronze statue of Mayor Bartle, who was 6 feet, 2 inches tall and weighed approximately 350 pounds, stands near the main entrance at 13th and Central Streets.
  • This convention hall features steel trusses as a major design element of the building, spanning 300 feet over 195,000 square feet of exhibition space.
  • The first phase of Bartle Hall was begun in 1974 and completed in 1976.
  • Phase one is the northern section between 12th and 14th Streets; south of 14th, including the Pylons, is considered the 1991 expansion.
  • The pylons are one of only two structures in the USA (non-bridges) where a double-deck, vertical-lift bridge design was used to build the suspended convention hall over an eight-lane interstate highway (I-670) in Downtown Kansas City, Mo.
  • The entire facility offers 428,000 square feet of exhibition space on one level.
  • The pylons were modeled after the art deco design of the ceiling lights, wall fixtures, and other ornamentation inside the Municipal Auditorium.
