Fakten

  • The nave of the First Reformed Church was built in 1775-76. It served as a hospital during the Revolutionary War. In 1777 it was also the site of a series of peace treaty negotiations with Native Americans.
  • Thomas U. Walter was architect of an extensive 1832 remodeling which included the steeple, brick portions on the north end, frescos, and stained glass windows.
  • The steeple was built by Philip Mixsell. Designed in the Federal style, it consists of a tall square belfry tower surmounted by a slender steeple. It remains the tallest structure in downtown Easton.
