  • The Lincoln National Bank Building is constructed of steel faced with Indiana limestone. It has lead spandrel panels, a terra-cotta crown, and culminates in a slender observation tower topped by a flagpole.
  • Groundbreaking took place in August 1929, just a few weeks after the Stock Market Crash that brought on the Great Depression.
  • Tallest building in Fort Wayne from 1930 until 1970, when PNC Center was completed.
  • This was the first building in Indiana to rise higher than the Soldiers & Sailors Monument in Indianapolis.
  • The Pixley-Long Block was demolished to make way this building.
  • The entryway is decorated with copper panels depicting scenes from the life of Abraham Lincoln, and in the lobby there are large art deco murals depicting the energizing properties of the sun.
  • Tallest building in Indiana from 1930 until 1962, when the City-County Building in Indianapolis was completed.
