Fakten

  • Following the 1996 Olympic Games, Centennial Olympic Stadium was converted from an 85,000-seat track and field venue to the intimate 48,000-seat Turner Field, home of the Atlanta Braves.
  • The stadium design established an architectural precedent for "special event" facilities.
  • The stadium also hosted the 10th Paralympiad. Assistant U.S. Attorney General Deval L. Patrick called it "the most accessible stadium in the world.".
  • In the post-Olympic conversion, the northern end of the stadium (with approximately 35,000 seats) was demolished to accommodate an entry plaza, interactive game area, ticket office, a Braves Clubhouse Store and a two-level pub. Lower level outfield seating and the private 755 Club completed the redevelopment.
  • Replaced Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium as the home field of the Atlanta Braves.
