Fakten

  • The Cooley Center is part of the Thomas M. Cooley Law School, founded in 1972.
  • The school is named for Thomas McIntyre Cooley, an early Michigan Supreme Court Justice and the first commissioner of the Interstate Commerce Commission, appointed by President Grover Cleveland.
  • The original building consisted of 14 stories before undergoing the massive reconstruction that left it with 11 taller floors.
  • The basement level is home to the Cooley Law School Bookstore.
  • The first phase of the Cooley Center renovation took place in 1999, which including the renovation of floors 1 and 2, and floors 6-10. The second phase included the renovation of a state-of-the-art courtroom complex on the fifth floor in Feburary of 2004.
  • A groundbreaking for the 3rd and 4th classroom facilities took place on April 14th, 2005. Upon completion, Cooley Law Schools main campus in downtown Lansing will have all of its operations under one roof. The old classroom building will still be used, but in limited capacity.
