Fakten

  • This building originally bore the address 256 North Meridian Street, at the southwest corner of the New York Street intersection.
  • The building was moved one half-block west and rotated counter-clockwise 90 degrees in 1930 to allow construction of the new AT&T Building, then known as Indiana Bell.
  • The 12,000 ton building was moved in only 8 days by the John Eichleay Jr. Company.
  • This was done without disturbing any of the 600 employees. All utilities were maintained throughout the move.
  • After being moved, the original Meridian Street facade faced New York Street.
  • This building was eventually demolished to allow further additions to the art-moderne SBC Building.
