  • The exterior is made with a white cast stone designed to sparkle in the light.
  • A statue of the Angel Moroni was added to the top of the temple in 1983.
  • Construction slowed as a result of World War II.
  • At the start the project was to cost $548,528.

  • Temple is situated on a landscaped 7-acre site.
  • Memorial Drive was renamed from Western Street.
  • LDS first decided to build the Temple on March 3, 1937.
  • Groundbreaking was on December 19, 1939.
  • The cornerstone was laid on October 19, 1940.
  • The outside of the building was completed in September 1941.
  • The interior of the building was completed in the spring of 1945.
  • The Temple was dedicated September 23-25, 1945.
  • The first ordinances were performed in the temple December 5, 1945.
  • Church site is on the east bank of the Snake River, assembled with 39 separate parcels of land.
