Fakten

  • This theater building has a seating capacity of 1,701 seats, none of which are more than 70 feet from the stage.
  • This structure was originally opened as the Wilson Theater in 1928.
  • The Detroit Symphony Orchestra made the Wilson Theater their new home in 1946, renaming it Detroit Music Hall. But, by 1951, the orchestra had moved to the newly completed Ford Auditorium on the riverfront.
  • Upon the departure of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, a preliminary restoration was planned for the theater in 1973 led by David DiChiera, a major patron of the arts in Detroit. Renovation work began in 1991, and was completed in 1995, returning the theater to its former grandeur.
