Founded as Lancaster in 1859. Renamed Lincoln after Abraham Lincoln. Home to the University of Nebraska and the State Capitol.
Lincoln is Nebraska's 2nd largest city and is located 50 miles SW of Omaha.

The city is most famous for being the home of the traditional powerhouse U of Nebraska (Cornhuskers) Football team. Dubbed by its fans as the 'Big Red', when the Huskers play a home game at Memorial Stadium on a football Saturday, the crowd of 76,000 fans become the 3rd largest city in the state.
