Eibar is located in a very narrow valley, that’s why very high residential buildings have been constructed. During the 60’s and the 70’s the economy grew significantly and the whole Basque Country attracted many inmigrants. That was the case of Eibar. In order to acomodate all the people coming many flats were built upto a height of 23 floors.
The town right now loses population every year. Some people that came to Eibar are going back to their native places when they have retired. There are initiatives going on to stop this “carnage” but yet the town loses 300 inhabitants every year.
